Finally a reason to be excited to get up on a Monday morning! I’ll be posting a new GOT inspired recipe every Sunday until the finalè. This week I made devilled dragon eggs.

Don’t stress, this looks like it could be complicated but it’s so easy it should be a crime! They are the perfect little treat to celebrate my favourite character, Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regent of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons – try saying that 5 times fast.

Here is how I made these.

Ingredients

5 eggs

Blue food colouring

1/4 cup mayonnaise

2 teaspoons dijon mustard

3 slices of bacon, cooked and chopped

1 jalapeno pepper, diced finely

1 teaspoon paprika

Chives

salt and pepper, to taste

Method

1. In a large pan, boil some water. Add eggs and cook for ten minutes. Put the eggs in an ice bath to let them cool down quickly.

2. Crack the eggs, without peeling them. Put each egg in a Ziploc bag and add food coloring. Massage the bag until eggs are coated with food coloring (I usually do 1 egg at a time). Rest for half an hour. Rinse to remove excess of food coloring.

3. Peel the eggs and cut them in half and scoop the yolk into a bowl. Mix the yolk with mayonnaise, mustard, jalapeno, 1/2 teaspoon paprika, bacon, salt and pepper.

4. Scoop the mixture into the empty egg whites. Sprinkle with the remaining paprika and garnish with chives and serve. Enjoy!
