Halloumi Fries
Ingredients
40g cake flour
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp fine salt
1 Extra large egg
1.5 cups bread crumbs
225g halloumi, cut into chips
Sunflower oil, for frying
2 tbsp chopped coriander, for garnish
Garlic mayo, to serve
Pomegranate seeds, for garnish
Method
In a bowl, mix the flour, smoked paprika, oregano, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk the egg. In a seperate bowl add the bread crumbs.
Dip one piece of halloumi into the flour mixture, ensuring the cheese is well coated. Next dip the cheese into the whisked egg, ensuring it is also well coated.
Lastly, dip the halloumi into the breadcrumb mixture until it is well coated. Place halloumi onto a plate and repeat with the rest of the cheese
Add the oil to a wide, deep, heavy-based pan, so that it fills to a depth of about 1 1/2cm, and heat until sizzling. Add a few pieces of halloumi at a time and fry for 1-2 mins, turning with tongs, until golden and crispy on both sides.
Transfer to a piece of kitchen paper and repeat with the remaining halloumi.
Place the halloumi onto a serving plate, drizzle with garlic mayo, and garnish with pomegranate seeds and coriander. Serve immediately and enjoy!
